TimeForge v1.9.2 , Scheduling is Simplified and Graphical!

The team behind the TimeForge employee scheduling software has been quiet over the last month, hard at work on version 1.9.2 of TimeForge. After four weeks of work, and countless requests from our users (thank you!), we are proud to announce the latest release of the simplest employee scheduling program available for retail and hospitality businesses!

So, what’s new in TimeForge? A lot! Some of our improvements include:

  • A new graphical editor system! The number one request from our users since we released TimeForge has been to add a graphical editor to the schedule. Well, now you have it! From one screen you can now add or edit positions and employees, make or use templates, view availability, and display all of the shifts.
  • You can now switch between a schedule detail view, a daily view, and a weekly summary view when building your schedule. At any time, the views are only one click away! Each view gives you and your management team a different perspective of your schedule, hours that have been allocated, and the costs related to your labor schedule.
    • The Schedule Detail View displays every shift on your schedule, sorted by days and positions (or departments). You can quickly edit the shift start/end times, change employees, and view the availability of your employees. This view of your employee schedule scrolls vertically, and is the default view of your schedule.
    • The Daily View is a new perspective of your schedule. This view displays a single day on a chart, and can be sorted by position or employee. An additional sorting option, called the “Shift List” displays a simplified list of your shifts for the day. While editing or adding a shift, you can easily see when employees are available to work. You can also add or edit employees and modify positions , all from one screen! If you would like to add shifts or employees in bulk, just click on the “Edit All Shifts” button.
    • The Schedule Summary View is another perspective of the schedule, which displays an hourly summary of your employees. This view is sorted by employee names, and will quickly display who is working, on what days, and how many hours they are scheduled. Each day has a total number of hours, and each individual employee has a total as well.

Scheduling is Simplified and Graphical! – Welcome to TimeForge v1.9.2

As previously mentioned, the team behind the TimeForge employee scheduling software has been working hard on version 1.9.2 of TimeForge – released today, Jan 1, 2008. Happy New Year!

So, what’s new in TimeForge? A lot! Some of our recent improvements include:

  • Messages about your schedule are available on all of the schedule views (including the daily, weekly detail, and weekly summary views). You can see which “rules” have been broken by your management team while building the schedule, whether the shifts were created by the AutoScheduler or by management.
  • Day Parts are now displayed in the schedule (on the day view), and can be used to segment your day into different parts (for instance morning, afternoon, and evening shifts).
  • Day Parts are also visible when looking at employee availability. You can quickly see what shifts employees are available to work.
  • When editing an availability request, you can click on the day of the week to make an all-day request.
  • A new report: On the report page, there is a new 7-day schedule, called “Condensed 7-day schedule, sorted by position.” This new report is a variation of the Condensed 7-day schedule, where all of the employees are grouped by the position / department.
  • Templates have been updated to look like the Daily Schedule View, including graphing and different views of the day (sort by position or employee).
  • Additional numerous small improvements were made to the software ….

What’s Coming Soon?

As you may be aware, we release improvements to the TimeForge employee scheduling software every few weeks, and our team is hard at work developing version 1.9 of TimeForge. The next version will be released around Thanksgiving.

What can you expect to be in our next version of TimeForge?

  • Improved Availability. You will be able to view availability as you do now, in a list format , but you will also have the ability of adding and viewing availability on a calendar. Two clicks to create a time-off request! Also, Day Parts will be more integrated with the rest of the TimeForge system , so you can schedule around the different parts of your day.
  • Faster. We are aware that TimeForge can slow down occasionally for those of you with a large number of employees. These issues will be resolved in our next release.
  • Improved Templates. Templates will continue to receive upgrades, and you will be able to add and edit shifts with the same ease that you edit schedules.

TimeForge Version 1.8 is your answer!

TimeForge labor scheduling software has been upgraded to the latest version, version 1.8, at no charge to our customers, and this release includes a number of new features to make scheduling even more simple. Some of the latest features include:

  1. Schedule by Department / Position or by Time. Wok shifts can be grouped together by position, or ordered by time, or both! When using the position / department groups, each group will display the total cost for the group, the number of shifts, and the total number of hours being scheduled. Schedule how you want to!
  2. Employees can view the schedules of other employees. To enable this feature, login to TimeForge, click on “Setup“, and then choose “Settings for this Location“. In the “TimeForge Configuration” section, you will see a question which reads: “Do you want to allow your employees to view other employee’s schedules and contact information?” Make sure this option is set to “Yes“, and then save your settings. Any employee who logs into TimeForge.com can click on their “Schedules” tab, and then click on “Other Employee’s Schedules“. Employees can view the times, phone numbers, and assigned employees for all of the published labor schedules at your business.
  3. Requests and Availability can be filtered by position or employee. For example, you can view the requests for only “Joe“, or you can look at all of the requests from your “Server” staff. To use this feature, click on the “Employees” tab, and then choose “Edit employee requests / availability“. Once on that screen, you can change the “Requests for:” drop-down to display specific requests, and then click on “Show” to actually see that information.

In addition to these new features, several bug fixes and speed improvements have been added to make TimeForge the premiere online employee scheduling package.

Western Food Expo is a Wrap!

As many of you know, we exhibited at the Western Food Expo in California two weeks ago. We had a great time! Our booth was strategically positioned by a Digital Dining Point Of Sale (POS) distributor / reseller and Red Wing Shoes. During the three days in Los Angeles, we spoke to more than 500 restaurant owners, managers, employees, and share holders. A few hotel / motel operators, bar owners, and food inspectors were also interested in the benefits of labor scheduling software. The response for the software was overwhelming, and we appreciated the amazing amount of feedback that many of the customers, and potential customers, provided.

Additionally, we did get to spend some quality time with representatives from Digital Dining, Squirrel Systems, Radiant (Aloha POS), Waiter Pad POS, Micros, and Intura. All of these vendors are interested in integrating the TimeForge employee scheduling and labor management software with their own software packages.
