Matthew Jacobs. I go by “Jacobs” at work.
What do you do at TimeForge?
I’m the current developer of TimeForge’s mobile app, and I’ve put in a good deal of work on the standalone attendance program’s fingerprint scanner. I also occasionally test my coworkers’ code.
How long have you been working with TimeForge?
Since July of 2011.
What’s your favorite part of working at TimeForge?
Database repair. I love projects that require developing unique algorithms. I’m rather proud of the automatic template generation program that I designed on the website.
How do you make the lives of TimeForge customers better?
Right now, I’m working on TimeForge Mobile! I’m very excited about this extension of our capabilities, and I hope that it helps those workplaces that rely heavily on their phones.
What was your first hourly job?
My first non-restaurant job was as a student assistant in the Neuro-Imaging, Cognition, and Engineering lab at Texas Tech. I was assigned projects each summer to work on, ranging from power-assisted recumbent bikes to detecting visual-evoked potential to the study of treadmill rehabilitation.
What was your first restaurant or retail job?
In junior high and high school, I sometimes worked for my grandparents’ steakhouse. I usually bussed tables or rolled silverware.
What’s your favorite hobby?
Cooking. I can make a pretty mean steak.
What’s your favorite sports team?
I’d be a pretty terrible alumni if I didn’t root for the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team. Go Tech!
Do you have any pets?
None at the moment. I wouldn’t really count a cactus.
