The ShiftBuilder

TimeForge is the most powerful and innovative labor management system on the market, and the Scheduling feature allows you to quickly and easily build employee schedules that work.

One groundbreaking feature of TimeForge Scheduling is the ShiftBuilder, which can automatically build a daily schedule for you based on your specifications. In other words, all you need to do is tell the ShiftBuilder that you need 3 bartenders from 7PM-12PM, or 5 Line Cooks from 6PM-10PM, and it will automatically build a shift with each of these positions filled out. All you have to do is assign an employee. Or, you could use the AutoScheduler or Bid Shifts instead.

With the ShiftBuilder, you can even generate shifts based on manager projections.

Using the Shift Builder is easy! Here’s how it’s done.

Navigate to the “Schedules” page.

  • Hover over the “Schedules” tab
  • Click “Schedules”

Create a new employee schedule.

Click the yellow “Add A New Schedule” button.

Enter the schedule information.

Boxes 1-4 are mandatory fields.

1-2. These options ask you to input a start and end date for the schedule to span.

3. Asks for a description of the schedule. TimeForge will automatically fill in this section, but you can change it to whatever makes sense for your business.

4. If you’re using Departments in TimeForge, choose which department this schedule is associated with.

5. This option will allow you to assign a sales category to a schedule. So, if you wanted to see how your schedule matches up to your Net sales and your Gross sales, you can select them here.

Input the appropriate information, then click the “Add This Schedule” button.

Don’t use templates.

Click the blue “Do Not Use Templates for this Schedule” link.

Begin using the ShiftBuilder.

Click the orange “ShiftBuilder” link on the top left of your page.

Enter shift information.

Build your shift in either 15 minute, 30 minute, or 1 hour increments. You can also define the minimum and maximum durations of the shifts you are building.

Build your shifts.

Input the coverage (number of employees) you need for each increment of each shift.

So, in this example, there are two bakers needed from 12-2, and three Bakery Clerks from 12-3.

Click “Continue” when you’re finished.

View the ShiftBuilder’s work.

Your shifts have now been built. You can specify employees, or run the AutoScheduler to have the best employee for each shift picked for you!
